INTRODUCTION
First Aid Training in factories and mines is essential to render First Aid to the accident victims at the work place. This is essential to save life of the casualties, to minimize seriousness of the injuries due to accident and to reduce emotional and social disturbances at the spot of the accident.
OBJECTIVE
This is an up-dated course on First-Aid designed specially for the industrial and mining employees. "To create a team of trained First Aiders in factories and mines to render First Aid on site and to handle the First Aid Boxes in conformity with the Factories Act, 1948 and Mines Act. 1952 and rules framed there under."
CERTIFICATE
The Certificate shall be awarded to the successful candidates by the National Institute for Allied Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar (NIFAMS) on the report of the result within 10(ten) days from the date of the examination.
CATEGORY
The First Aid Training Courses conducted by National Institute for Allied Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar (NIFAMS) is imparted at 2 (Two) respective levels i.e.
  • Voucher and Medallion First Aid Training Course for Factory employees.
  • Voucher and Medallion First Aid Training for Mining employees

FIRST AID TRAINING FOR FACTORY EMPLOYEES
The First Aid Training Course conducted for factory employees by National Institute for Allied Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar (NIFAMS) is imparted at 2 (Two) levels i.e.
Basic(Voucher) First Aid Training Course Minimum qualification HSC Desirable
Duration Lecture, Demonstration, Practical & Examination in 3 days.
Advanced(Medallion) First Aid Training Course Minimum qualification HSC
Those candidates who have a valid Certificate on ‘Basic(Voucher) First-Aid Training Course’ issued by NIFAMS, Bhubaneswar & have completed a minimum period of consecutive 3 (Three) years from the date of issue.
Duration Lecture, Demonstration, Practical & Examination in 3 days.

EXAMINATION
On the concluding day, an examination comprising Theory, Oral and Practical will be conducted by one Internal and one External examiner. Total Marks : 100 (Theory - 40, Oral - 20, Practical - 40).
One has to secure minimum 50% of the total mark to be declared successful in the examination.
VALIDITY
The Certificate in original issued to successful candidates after passing the required examination is valid under Section 45131 of Factories Act, 1948, vide ORDER No: LLV-43/94/7204/LE, Bhubaneswar, the 20th June 1995 of Government of Odisha, Labour and Employment Department.
FIRST AID TRAINING FOR MINING EMPLOYEES
The First Aid Training conducted for mining employees by National Institute for Allied Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar (NIFAMS) is imparted at 2 (Two) levels i.e.
  • Voucher First Aid Training
  • Medallion First Aid Training
ELIGIBILITY(Voucher First Aid Training)
Voucher First Aid Training Course Minimum qualification HSC Desirable
Duration 10 days session of Lecture, Demonstration & Practical Training followed by Oral & Practical Examination on the 11th day.
Medallion First Aid Training Course Minimum qualification HSC
Those candidates who have a valid Certificate on ‘Voucher First-Aid Training Course’ for consecutive 3 years will be eligible for Medallion First Aid Training.
Duration 10 days session of Lecture, Demonstration & Practical Training followed by Oral & Practical Examination on the 11th day.
EXAMINATION
Voucher and Medallion First-Aid Training:
On the 11th day, examination comprising Oral & Practical will be conducted, as detailed below:

Examination :
Total marks - 200
Practical :
Full mark 160
Pass mark 80
Oral :
Full mark 40
Pass mark 20
Candidates shall pass in practical and oral examination separately.
FACULTY
A team of highly qualified, experienced and professionally competent Resource Persons of repute have been specially oriented to handle different sessions including conduct of practical and demonstration.
MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION
All classes/instructions will be conducted in English, Hindi, and Odia as deem suitable to the participants through lectures, power point presentation and demonstration.
COURSE MATERIAL
Printed Course material will be provided to the registered participants during the course period.
COMPETENT AUTHORITY
The Director, National Institute for Allied Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar (NIFAMS) is the competent authority for the purpose of First Aid Training/Course and his/her decision in such matter is final.
